What is Factor Investing?
Factor investing is a strategy that targets specific, measurable drivers of return rather than simply buying broad asset classes like stocks or bonds. Think of it like building a championship sports team. Instead of just picking famous players, you draft athletes based on specific winning traits, like speed, strength, or agility.
In the stock market, these “traits” are called factors. Common examples include value, momentum, or quality. For everyday investors, this approach is highly practical. Factor investing allows you to tilt your portfolio toward specific characteristics. This helps you manage risk and potentially boost your long-term returns across different market cycles.
