Nifty 50 and Sensex, snapped their four-session losing streak to end higher today. The Nifty 50 gained 0.60% (+133.80 points) to close at 22,555.75, while the Sensex rose 0.66% (+472.77 points) to end at 72,382.47.
Sectorally, most indices ended in the green, led by gains in Nifty FMCG and Nifty Consumer Durables. On the other hand, Nifty Healthcare, Nifty Pharma, and Nifty IT were laggards.

PhysicsWallah shares gained after the company announced plans to restructure the lending strategy of its non-banking financial company (NBFC) segment and move away from direct lending.
The Navratna PSU and the country’s largest shipping company expects to deliver a profit after tax (PAT) of ₹2,000 crore this fiscal, as per Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Additionally it is looking to induct 30 vessels and other 51-container vessels in the fleet.
Jewellery stocks including Kalyan Jewellers surged as early October marks the beginning of the key jewellery buying season as multiple festivals are right around the corner.
The company has collaborated with MathWorks, a leading developer of mathematical computing software for designing engineered systems, to support automotive engineers developing and validating Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for Indian road environments.
Avenue Supermarts added 15 new stores during the quarter, compared with eight stores in the year-ago period, taking its total store count to 518 at the end of Q2FY27. The store network increased by about 20% year-on-year. However, store additions in the first half remained broadly steady, with 18 stores added in H1FY27 compared with 17 in H1FY26.

- Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) Secretary Anuradha Thakur has said that private investment in India is demonstrating clear signs of a strong revival despite global economic uncertainties, with capital formation in the first quarter of the current financial year (Q1FY27) growing at its fastest pace in more than three years. She said private companies are committing to new projects, especially in sectors such as power, data centres and metals.
- The Finance Ministry, in its September edition of the Monthly Economic Review, said the Indian economy is estimated to have grown by 7.3 per cent in the September quarter (Q2) of the current fiscal year (FY27), though at a slower pace than the 7.8 per cent growth recorded in the June quarter.
- The Department of Commerce has extended the timelines under Component II of RELIEF – Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation, a time-bound intervention under the Export Promotion Mission (EPM) amid continuing geopolitical disruptions in West Asia.
- Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India’s exports of specific goods like motor cars, heavy waters and moulding patterns have registered a healthy growth in the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) bloc following implementation of a trade agreement between India and the four-nation grouping. India and EFTA implemented the trade and economic partnership agreement (TEPA) on October 1, 2025. EFTA comprises Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
