Shares of defence companies were in demand after the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) worth ₹52,000 crore to strengthen the combat capabilities of the armed forces.
Shakti Pumps (India) has received a Letter of Empanelment worth around ₹353.89 crore (inclusive of GST) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) for 15,000 Off-Grid Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) pumps of 3 HP, 5 HP, 7.5 HP for the entire state of Maharashtra under Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana. The order is to be executed within 60 days from the issuance of work order.
HDFC Bank’s average deposits were ₹30,114 billion for the June 2026 quarter, a growth of around 13.3% over ₹26,576 billion for the corresponding June 2025 period. The bank’s average CASA deposits were ₹9,570 billion for the June 2026 quarter, a growth of around 11.2% over ₹8,604 billion for the corresponding June 2025 period. Further, its average time deposits were ₹20,544 billion for the June 2026 quarter, a growth of around 14.3% over ₹17,972 billion for the corresponding June 2025 period.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation’s (BPCL) indirect wholly owned subsidiary – BPRL Ventures BV has acquired 39.14% stake in IBV Brasil Petroleo Limitada (IBV) for a consideration of ₹2,312 crore. Post this acquisition, the BPRL Ventures BV’s shareholding in IBV has increased from 60.86% to 100%.
The company has entered into a Strategic Collaboration Agreement with TuTr Hyperloop, a technology company specialising in Hyperloop propulsion and advanced mobility technologies. Together, the two companies will evaluate, design, develop, integrate and explore the commercialisation of high-speed, energy-efficient freight transportation systems aligned with future logistics and infrastructure needs.

What’s Happening Beyond Markets?
- With an aim to ensure a secure and predictable investment climate between the India and Israel, the Finance Ministry has said that the India-Israel Bilateral Investment Agreement (BIA) came into force on July 4. 2026. The pact, which provides protection for two-way investments, is likely to boost cross-border investment activity. India and Israel had signed the agreement on September 8, 2025.
- Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has said that India’s total automobile retail sales surged 21.83% year-on-year to 25,57,234 units in June 2026 as compared with 20,98,996 units in the corresponding month last year, led by strong demand across segments. Passenger vehicles (PV) emerged as the strongest-performing segment, with retail sales surging 28.63% year-on-year to 4,10,853 units in June 2026 from 3,19,412 units a year earlier.
- Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India is targeting an ambitious 16-17 percent growth in merchandise exports to about $530 billion in the current fiscal year (FY27). He said that the services sector is aiming for 11 percent growth to about $470 billion during FY27.
- With the aim to deepen economic ties and strengthen bilateral trade, India and France have agreed to enhance cooperation in critical minerals, investment, and financial connectivity. The decision was taken during the India-France Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD) held in Aix-en-Provence, which was co-chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and her French counterpart, Roland Lescure. Sitharaman is on a four-day official visit to France, which began on July 1, 2026.
