What’s Happening Beyond Markets?
- As per the RBI, India’s current account deficit widened to $4.2 billion, or 0.5% of GDP, in Q1 FY27. This increase was primarily driven by a sharp rise in the merchandise trade deficit to $86.1 billion, despite higher net service receipts.
- The India-Afghanistan Joint Working Group held a virtual meeting to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Key discussions included customs cooperation, visa facilitation for Afghan traders, banking, and boosting investments through enhanced regulatory and institutional frameworks.
- According to the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, additional data clarified the Q1 FY27 GDP estimates. It explained that the -1.5% manufacturing GVA deflator resulted from double-deflation methodologies, where input prices rose faster than output prices, not from falling manufacturing prices.
- The EPFO introduced amnesty provisions in the EPF Scheme 2026, valid until December 28, 2026. This allows a one-time retrospective regularisation of the exemption status for PF Trusts, offering waivers on minimum employee headcount and corpus size.
- According to a joint BCG-ACMA report, India’s auto component industry targets a $200 billion turnover by FY30. To achieve this, companies must build greater resilience against key challenges like raw material and energy costs, labour shortages, and global demand volatility.

Why Should You Not Over Diversify Your Portfolio?
Over-diversifying happens when you spread your money across too many different investments, intending to reduce risk, but ultimately hurting your potential returns. Think of it like managing a sports team. Having a few star players gives you a strong chance of winning. But if you crowd the field with 50 average players just to play it safe, their mediocre performance will dilute the impact of your superstars.
In the stock market, this is often called “diworsification.” When you hold too many overlapping stocks or mutual funds, your biggest winners barely move the needle on your total wealth. For everyday investors, holding a few diverse, well-researched stocks provides plenty of safety. Adding more doesn’t meaningfully lower your risk; it just makes your portfolio harder to manage and drags your returns down to average.
