What is open interest in the F&O segment?

In the F&O segment, open interest (OI) refers to the total number of outstanding or unclosed contracts for options and futures at a specific point in time. It tells you about the activity and sentiment in the market for a particular underlying asset.

An increased OI indicates a high volume of trading and strong market sentiment for the underlying asset. While decreased OI suggests reduced trading activity and possibly weakening sentiment in the market.
