Who can apply for a stock buyback?

All shareholders of a company who hold the shares on the Record Date are eligible to apply for a buyback.

If you are buying shares specifically to participate in an upcoming buyback, ensure you purchase them using the Delivery product type. Only stocks that have been successfully credited to your demat account by the record date will be considered.

Before applying, please keep these key details in mind: 

• Unpledge your shares: Only free holdings are eligible for a buyback. If any of your shares are currently pledged for trading margin, you must unpledge them first.
• Authorize the transfer: If you have not activated Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPI) for your account, you must manually approve the debit using your CDSL TPIN. Your shares cannot be tendered without this authorization.
