What is a Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP)?

The DRHP (Draft Red Herring Prospectus) is the initial, preliminary legal document that a company files with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) when it plans to launch an Initial Public Offering (IPO).

It’s essentially a detailed business proposal that provides comprehensive information about the company’s financial performance, business operations, risks, the purpose of the IPO, and the terms of the shares being offered. Although the DRHP contains most details, the price and the exact number of shares are usually left blank until the final RHP is filed. It’s the first step to seeking public investment.
