What is the Reverse Repo Rate?

The reverse repo rate is the interest rate at which RBI borrows money from banks for a short term. Banks park their excess cash with RBI at this rate, helping absorb extra liquidity from the system.

How it impacts the economy: When RBI hikes the reverse repo rate, banks prefer depositing funds with RBI over lending, curbing money supply to fight inflation. On the other hand, a cut pushes banks to lend more, spurring growth but risking higher prices. Reverse repo rate plays a vital role in keeping the markets stable.
