What is Low Inflation?
Low inflation occurs when the general prices of goods and services in an economy rise at a slow, steady, and manageable rate over time. Think of it like a gentle breeze pushing a sailboat. It provides just enough forward momentum to keep the economy moving without turning into a destructive storm that capsizes your household budget.
Central banks typically aim for this low, predictable rate to encourage healthy economic growth. It subtly motivates people to spend and businesses to invest, knowing that cash loses a tiny bit of value if left completely idle. For everyday consumers, this means the purchasing power of your hard-earned money remains relatively stable. You can confidently plan for the future, knowing your daily cost of living won’t suddenly skyrocket overnight.
