What is a Range Breakout?
A range breakout happens when the price jumps above the resistance or drops below the support level of a well-defined range. This move often comes with a spike in trading volume and signals that the market’s indecision is over and a new trend is starting. Traders pay close attention to breakouts as they can lead to strong price moves, either up or down.
For you, a breakout is a sign to watch closely: if the price breaks out and holds, it means buyers or sellers have taken charge and a fresh move is underway. But beware of “false breakouts,” sometimes prices briefly escape the range, only to fall back again.
