India’s top auto manufacturers reported a mix of highs and declines in their April 2025 and FY25 performance, with TVS Motor and Maruti Suzuki hitting new milestones, while others like Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto saw volume declines in select categories.

Maruti Suzuki reports total sales of 1.79 lakh units in April

Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 1,79,791 units in April 2025, up from 1,68,089 units in the same month last year. This includes domestic sales of 1,42,053 units (including 3,349 LCVs), sales to other OEMs of 9,827 units, and exports of 27,911 units, which grew from 22,160 units in April 2024. Passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 1,38,704 units, led by the compact segment (Baleno, Swift, Dzire, WagonR) with 61,591 units sold.

TVS Motor posts highest-ever annual sales

TVS Motor Company registered its highest-ever revenue of ₹36,251 crores, up 14%, for the year FY25, with a 31% jump in profit before tax to ₹3,629 crores. The company recorded sales of 47.4 Lakh units, up by 13% during FY 2024-25. For Q4 FY25, sales grew 14% year-on-year to 12.16 lakh units. The Company posted its highest ever operating EBITDA of ₹1,333 crores for the fourth quarter, up 43.95%.

Bajaj Auto reports 6% drop in April sales
Bajaj Auto’s total sales for April 2025 stood at 3,65,810 units, down 6% from 3,88,256 units in April 2024. Domestic two-wheeler sales declined 13% to 1,88,615 units, while exports in this segment rose 4% to 1,29,322 units. Commercial vehicle (CV) exports increased 11% year-on-year, while domestic CV sales remained nearly flat at 32,000 units. Overall exports grew 4% to 1,45,195 units, while domestic volumes fell 11%.

Hero MotoCorp reports decline in dispatches in April, EV segment expands
Hero MotoCorp dispatched 3,05,406 units in April 2025, down 42.8%. The drop was due to a temporary production halt from April 17–19 at four of its plants, carried out for scheduled maintenance and supply chain adjustments. Meanwhile, its EV brand VIDA continued to grow, with 7,116 electric scooters dispatched during the month.

Despite the dip, Hero reported 5.05 lakh internal combustion engine (ICE) two-wheeler registrations on VAHAN (excluding Telangana), reflecting retail demand momentum. Its EV arm, VIDA, dispatched 7,116 electric scooters in April and registered 6,123 units on VAHAN.

Hyundai reports 60,774 units in April sales

Hyundai Motor India sold a total of 60,774 vehicles in April 2025, including 44,374 domestic and 16,400 export units. The company recorded a 21% y-o-y growth in exports for the month. Hyundai also crossed the 9-million-unit mark in cumulative domestic sales since its inception. It continues to highlight its ‘Make in India, Made for the World’ strategy and is set to commence operations at its new plant in Talegaon in Q4 2025.
