Shares of Apollo Micro Systems Ltd.

shares surged after announcing a key milestone in defence manufacturing through its subsidiary network.

Its step-down subsidiary, Apollo Strategic Technologies Private Limited (ASTPL), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based Dynamic Engineering and Design Incorporation at DSEI London on September 10, 2025. The deal covers technology transfer, co-development, and potential licensed production of rocket motors for BM-21 Grad ER and Non-ER rockets.

This partnership marks a major step in indigenising propulsion technologies for multi-barrel rocket systems — a critical capability for India’s defence sector. Apollo has already developed the 122mm rocket warhead in-house and plans to begin immediate trials, with full-scale production targeted for mid-2026. By combining domestically produced rocket motors with its own warheads, Apollo is set to become one of the few private Indian firms to offer a fully in-house developed rocket system.

The initiative supports the government’s Make in India programme by reducing import dependency, lowering lifecycle costs, and enabling faster scaling of production. Rocket motors, the core propulsion units of artillery rockets, are vital for range, thrust, and accuracy, making domestic manufacturing strategically important for India’s self-reliance.

The BM-21 Grad system, a 122mm artillery rocket with a range of up to 40 km, remains one of the most widely used unguided rockets globally. With this MoU, Apollo strengthens its position in India’s private defence manufacturing ecosystem while also opening avenues in the international defence supply chain.
