What happens if my stop-loss trigger price is not hit?
If your stop-loss trigger price is not hit, the order will not activate, and your position will remain open. However, if the stop-loss is triggered but not immediately executed, it will try to fill near the limit price.
Example:
Suppose you buy a stock currently trading at ₹500 and set a stop-loss at ₹490. A stop loss limit order will be placed with the Stop loss limit price being ₹485 (₹490 – 1%*500). If the price drops to ₹490 but no trade occurs at that level, the stop-loss order gets triggered but remains unexecuted. The system then attempts to execute the order from ₹490 to ₹485.
