Is there a minimum quantity or amount for an IPO bidding?
Yes. The regulator’s share allotment rules state that the minimum bid lot is based on the minimum application amount.
| SME IPO | Mainboard IPO | |
| Average Application Size | Minimum of ₹2 lakh* | ₹14,000 – ₹15,000 |
| Listing on Stock Exchanges | Can be listed only on one exchange. | Can be listed on both exchanges. |
*Note: The minimum investment for SME IPOs has increased to 2 lots or ₹2 lakhs, but this applies only to IPOs that filed their prospectus after March 2025. Many upcoming IPOs may still have a ₹1 lakh minimum, as older prospectuses are valid for up to a year.
