Why did I get a mismatch error while sharing my PAN?

A mismatch error usually means the details from your PAN don’t match records from official sources. Here are common reasons:

  1. Name mismatch with income tax records: Your PAN name must exactly match IT records—any spelling or format issues can cause a mismatch.
  2. PAN not linked with Aadhaar: PAN must be linked to Aadhaar, and details like name and DOB must match.
  3. PAN marked invalid or inactive: Your PAN might be flagged by the Income Tax Department—check its status on the website.
  4. KYC on hold with (e.g., CAMS, Karvy): If your KYC is pending or on hold, PAN verification will fail.
  5. Non-personal PAN used: Only individual PANs are accepted—business or entity PANs aren’t allowed.
  6. PAN already registered: Your PAN may already be linked to another Share.Market or PhonePe Mutual Funds account.

Tip: Double-check your PAN format (e.g., ABCDE1234F) and ensure you’re using your personal, valid PAN.
