What if my name in the bank account is different from the name in my PAN card or Aadhaar?

To open a Share.Market account, your name must match across your PAN card, Aadhaar, and bank account. Any mismatch can block the process.

At times, even matching names may fail automatic checks if banks don’t share the full name, leading to low verification scores and manual review.

In such cases, you may be asked to upload your PAN, Aadhaar, and bank proof manually for verification.

But if there’s a genuine mismatch, here’s how you can update your name:

To update your name in PAN:

  • Visit the NSDL PAN update portal.
  • Choose Apply Online > Changes or Correction in existing PAN data.
  • Select Individual under Category, fill in your details, and submit the update.

To update your name in Aadhaar:

  • Go to the UIDAI website and log in with your Aadhaar number and OTP.
  • Select Edit Aadhaar Online, update your name, upload the required documents, and submit the request (a small fee may apply).

To update your name in your bank account:

  • Contact your bank directly.
  • Submit a name change request along with valid ID proof and supporting documents.
