Why can’t I sell my holdings?

You might not be able to sell your shares due to the following reasons:

  1. Shares Not Yet Credited: The shares haven’t been added to your Demat account yet.
  2. Unsettled or Recently Bought Shares:
    • You’re trying to sell shares that haven’t settled yet (like T2T stocks, which can only be sold after T+1 day).
    • Your holdings may not be updated in the portfolio yet.
  3. TPIN Not Verified: If e-DIS (TPIN) verification isn’t completed and DDPI isn’t enabled, you’ll need to verify via TPIN to sell shares.
  4. Open Orders Exist: There are pending sell orders for the same shares. These need to be completed or canceled first.
  5. Low Liquidity: Shares with low trading volume may not find buyers easily
  6. Pledged Shares: Pledged shares can’t be sold unless they are unpledged.
  7. Stock Under Ban or Restriction: The exchange may temporarily ban or restrict some stocks from trading.
