What is an RDG Transfer and who can use it?
RDG Transfer is a facility that allows investors to seamlessly transfer Government Securities (G-Secs) between their Demat Account and their RBI Retail Direct Gilt (RDG) Account, strictly for own-account transfers where ownership remains unchanged.
Key points:
- Transfers are allowed from Demat to RDG and from RDG to Demat.
- Transfers between Demat accounts across depositories are permitted only under the “Transfer to Own Account” reason code.
- The facility is available only for accounts with up to two holders. Accounts with more than two holders are not eligible for CDSL to RDG transfers.
- There is no change in ownership during the transfer.
