Government Releases July 2026 WPI Data; Wholesale Inflation Stands At 9.78%
Provisional estimates for the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) with a Base Year of 2022-23 have been released, reporting an all-India year-on-year inflation rate of 9.78% for July 2026, a slight moderation from 9.87% in June 2026. The index for All Commodities stands at 110.0. Across major groups, year-on-year inflation rates are recorded at 8.52% for Primary Articles, 20.05% for Fuel and Power, and 8.29% for Manufactured Products. The WPI Food Index observed an inflation rate of 6.65% in July 2026, up from 6.14% in the previous month.
Major drivers of WPI inflation in July included Mineral Oils (containing Petroleum Products), Food Articles, Manufacture of Basic Metals, Non-Food Articles, and Manufacture of Chemicals and Chemical Products. The final WPI inflation for May 2026 has also been revised upward to 9.88% from the provisional estimate of 9.68%. Alongside WPI, the Output Producer Price Index (PPI) for All Commodities in July 2026 stands at 109.9, remaining unchanged from June. Output PPIs for Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; Mining and Quarrying; Manufactured Products; and Electricity are 115.6, 119.4, 108.8, and 92.4, respectively. Furthermore, the provisional trial Input PPI for the Manufacturing Sector is estimated at 105.9 for July 2026.
