The stock market loves a compelling growth story, especially when driven by massive order wins in the clean energy transition.

Shares of Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd. (SWREL) experienced significant upward momentum following a major corporate announcement.

According to the company’s official exchange filing, SWREL successfully secured prestigious domestic and international orders totaling more than ₹985 crore (inclusive of taxes). This influx of new business reinforces the company’s dual strategy of deepening domestic market share while expanding its international footprint.

Breakdown of the Deals

  • Domestic Win (Rajasthan, India): SWREL secured a 534.3 MWp solar contract in Rajasthan awarded by a leading Indian Independent Power Producer (IPP). Marking an engagement with a brand-new client, the scope of work entails a Balance of System (BOS) package. Once commissioned, the project is estimated to mitigate approximately 0.80 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
  • International Win (South Africa): SWREL bagged an international order comprising two standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects with a combined capacity of 616 MWh (each project accounting for 308 MWh). Awarded by a repeat customer—a prominent Middle East-based renewable energy developer—the contract is structured as a turnkey EPC wrap and marks the second-largest utility-scale BESS project in SWREL’s history.

Why This Win Matters

For a global pure-play renewable EPC provider, execution credibility and scale are paramount. Winning a contract from a new tier-1 IPP in Rajasthan demonstrates growing market trust in India’s competitive solar ecosystem. Simultaneously, securing a major BESS follow-on contract in South Africa highlights client retention and technical expertise in grid-stabilization technologies.

“We are delighted to have received two prestigious orders in Rajasthan and South Africa,” stated Chandra Kishore Thakur, Global CEO of Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy. “Together, these orders reinforce the momentum in our business and the confidence customers place in our capabilities. They also demonstrate the strength of our customer relationships, built on consistent project execution, domain expertise, and skilled manpower.”

With an established global portfolio exceeding 28.7 GWp (spanning commissioned assets and projects under construction) across 28 countries, alongside an Operation & Maintenance (O&M) footprint of 18.3 GWp, SWREL might be well-positioned to capitalize on global utility-scale solar and energy storage demand.
