Highlights

Indian markets extended their winning streak for a fourth straight session on Monday, closing higher amid upbeat global sentiment. Gains were driven by optimism over renewed US-China trade talks, encouraging progress in US-India trade relations, and continued policy support from the RBI. Most sectoral indices ended in the green, with only Nifty Realty closing in the red.

What Are Lower Circuits & Upper Circuits?

Ever noticed a stock suddenly stop trading? That’s a “circuit” at work.

Stock exchanges put limits, called upper and lower circuits, on how much a stock’s price can go up or down in a single day.

For example, if a stock closed at ₹100 yesterday and has a 10% circuit, it can only trade between ₹90 and ₹110 today.

Think of circuits like speed breakers on a road: they are to improve safety and prevent accidents and wild swings in the market.

Sometimes, these limits even apply to the entire market during big moves.

Understanding circuits helps you stay calm and avoid making rushed decisions when prices move quickly.
