What is Viability Gap Funding (VGF)?

Viability Gap Funding is financial support that the government gives to private companies for infrastructure projects that are economically important but not immediately profitable.

In simple terms, if a project helps the public but isn’t attractive to investors on its own, the government fills that “gap” with funding to make it viable.

For investors, VGF-backed projects mean lower risk, better execution, and potential long-term returns.
