What Are Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs)?

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) are international entities like foreign mutual funds, pension funds, or insurance companies that invest in India’s financial markets.

Think of them as foreign money coming to India seeking growth opportunities.

SEBI allows them to invest, but sets rules – they can’t own more than 24% of any Indian company.

They typically focus on short-to-medium term investments and can significantly impact market movements with their large-scale buying and selling.

FIIs bring foreign capital that boosts market liquidity, but their sudden exits can cause market volatility, as seen during global crises.
