What is the MSCI Index?

The MSCI Index tracks top-performing stocks from around the world and serves as a key benchmark for global investors.

When a company is added to this index, it often attracts passive inflows from global funds that replicate MSCI portfolios, boosting demand, trading volume, and sometimes, the stock price.

For example, on May 2025, Nykaa and Coromandel International were added to the MSCI Global Standard Index. Nykaa shares rose over 3%, with analysts estimating inflows of nearly $200 million.

For investors, tracking MSCI changes can help spot stocks getting global attention.
